Martha Harrison

Martha Harrison began her career in 1937 at Screen Gems. She remembers painting Scrappy cels in black and white. Martha practiced inking cels during her lunch break and when the Fleischers opened their studio in Florida, Martha was hired. She inked on Mr. Bug Goes to Townand Gulliver's Travels. Upon returning to Los Angeles she worked at MGM then at Sutherland Studio. Martha worked at UPA in the early 50s for several happy years but when UPA lost its Columbia contract, she moved to North American Aircraft to help make instructional films. She remembers it as a troubled place full of security checkpoints and political polarization. Later she was much happier at Ray Patin's and working in ink and paint services for Bill Hanna's sisters, Connie and Maryann. Her long experience allowed her to Final Check scenes for camera at Filmfair. Martha's last work before retirement was at C & D Paint Services.
