From the May 1998 Peg-Board
JIM ALGAR, longtime animation vet who started his career at Disney in 1934, died February 26, 1998 at his home in Carmel. He was 85.
Algar worked on Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, directed "The Sorcerer's Apprentice" segment of Fantasia, as well as sequences of Bambi. In the 1950's, he directed and wrote nature and animal adventure films for the Mouse House, among them Academy Award winners The Living Desert, White Wilderness, and Grand Canyon.
