Bob Matz

Emmy-winning animator and director BOB MATZ died on March 28, 2003 at the age of ninety. He started in the cartoon business in 1936 at Leon Schlesinger Productions. During World War II, he served in the United States Navy.

After returning to the studio in 1945, which was now Warner Bros, he met Peggi Morgan who was working there as a cartoon painter. They married in 1948 and had three daughters.

Bob was an animator in the Friz Freleng unit at Warner Bros. until the studio closed. He also worked at DePatie-Freleng, Ray Patin, TV Spots, Filmation, Krantz, Marvel, and Melendez studios.

In both 1985 and 1987, he won Emmy Awards for animation direction on the Muppet Babies series. In 1987, he was given the Golden Award by the Animation Guild.
