Local 839 charter member AMBY PALIWODA died on June 9, 1999 at the age of eighty-nine. From 1933 until his retirement in 1983, he worked as an animator for Disney, U. S. Army Air Force Visual Aid Training, Eagle, Hanna-Barbera, Format, Ed Graham, Filmation, Bakshi-Krantz, Fred Calvert, Sanrio and Duck Soup. He received the M. P. S. C. Golden Award in 1985.
Amby was one of twenty-one cartoonists who signed a petition to the IATSE, that led to the formation of Local 839 in 1952. His passing leaves three of our charter members still living.
