From the March 1999 Peg-Board
1992 Golden Award winner HAWLEY PRATT died on March 2, 1999. From 1939 until his retirement in 1972, he worked as a layout artist and director for Disney, Warners, DePatie-Freleng and Filmation.
Hawley Pratt designed the original Pink Panther character for the Blake Edwards movie of the same name, starting the Pink panther's success.
He went on to produce many Pink Panther theatrical shorts. He was awarded gold records for his outstanding art work for the Golden Book series.
Hawley was not one to draw attention to his great talent. Many pothers took the accolades that should have been his.
He will be missed for his easy-going and charming nature. It's very hard in a few words to wrap up Hawley's whole talented life.
He will live on in mine and others' memories.
