From the November 2003 Peg-Board
Animator and director CARL URBANO died on October 16, 2003 at the age of ninety-four. Starting in 1931 he worked for Winklers, Van Beuren, Harman-Ising, MGM, Hugh Harman, John Sutherland and Hanna-Barbera. In 1940 he animated on the first Tom and Jerry short, Puss Gets The Boot, and he was one of the core group of MGM artists who followed Bill Hanna and Joe Barbera when they started their own studio. He was awarded the Motion Picture Screen Cartoonists Golden Award in 1981.
