From the May 1998 Peg-Board
SANDRA YOUNG worked in the animation industry for a number of years, mostly at Hanna-Barbera, before joining Disney character merchandising. She passed away April 7, 1998 at age 54. Co-worker and friend Jim Franzen writes this remembrance:
Sandra's talent was monumental... Drawing and creating for Sandra was an act of passion. Sandra's work consisted mainly of females, both glamourous and ultra cute! And what wonderful characters they were... graceful, and full of humanity and spirit...
Sandra was in the hospital for the last three weeks of her life. As cancer eroded her physical resources, there was little change in her spirit, or her will to survive and to work. Sandra's bravery was inspiring to me and everyone else I spoke to about her. She continued to produce her lovely drawings as though nothing was wrong. At last, on April 7, her physical resources ran dry... and God welcomed home one of His finest creations, and one of our best friends.
