We encourage anyone working for a non-union animation company in southern California to sign a Local 839 representation card. (If you are working for a non-union animation company outside the southern California area, or if you're working in a non-union production category outside of Local 839's jurisdiction, contact the appropriate IATSE local.)
A representation card will show that you wish to have Local 839 serve as your collective bargaining representative in signing a union contract.
At no time will the employer be notified that you have signed this card.
When sufficient representation cards have been received, Local 839 will contact the National Labor Relations Board to request a certification election at the company.
If we win this election, the company will be obligated to negotiate a contract with Local 839.
