The Animation Guild neither encourages nor discourages members from taking non-Guild work. Because this is not a "Guild shop", you will not receive Guild health, pension, 401(k) or other benefits, nor can the employer "split payroll" and pay Guild benefits to some employees and not others. The Guild is very limited in the degree to which we can help you with non-Guild employer disputes, but we can advise you as to your rights under state and Federal labor laws. We're looking for ANIMATORS
We are looking for two or three animators for a Children's television pilot shooting in early March. There is little pay now, but if the show is picked up there would be a contract and salary. Great opportunity to build resume and demo reel. For more information, please email Ben Scantlin. Thank you and look forward to hearing from you.

Hi Jeff,
I am an independent DVD producer/director, based in Sherman Oaks. After 20 years in advertising as DGA Director/Cameraman, I have recently switched gears and decided to commit all of my resources to DVD production, i.e. self-financed, truly independent, interactive instructional and self-help DVDs. I truly believe, that's where the future lies.
We recently shot our second title "Train Your Dog", and I'm in the midst of the edit. The DVD features two terrific dog trainers and an abundance of dogs. When I embarked on this project, I did not consider using animation at first. But after reading that article in the Times about all those incredibly talented cell animators who were recently laid off by Disney, I couldn't help but say to myself : these huge talents are right here in your backyard, why don't you make use of that pool and greatly enhance your productions! So I decided to try to find a person who is available and willing to work for us. We are not a union signatory company, but we are prepared to pay the going rate. Needless to say, our budgets are miniscule, compared to the "big boys" out there, but we are truly independent. Here is what I need:
1) 4-5 second cell animation (15 fps) of mascot dog (type Beagle puppy), in color, against stationary flat, neutral background. The dog pulls a pair of ropes, like in a tug-of-war, which are attached to a stationary title card. The dog pulls the title card into frame. Title card is not animated. This animation is the start-up action of the DVD. The title card is a legal disclaimer ("try these dog training exercises at your own risk", etc, plus copyright notice)
2) A stationary frame of same dog pointing his paw (to be used as navigation icon in DVD menu)
3) a stationary, stylized drawing of a paw print
4) OPTIONAL (depending on cost) the same dog sitting, turning his head to viewer and smiling, turning his head away from viewer, barking, then turning back to viewer. To be used in the bottom right corner of 30-second motion menus, which loop continuously.
I would take the animation cells and photograph them with a digital camera, then import them into Adobe After Effects as a Targa sequence. I do all my post-production in my mini studio here at the house.
If any of your members are interested, I'd like to get started ASAP, but I also need a price quote. Call me any time, if you have questions.
Thank You.
