839 member Tim Eldred is freelancing for a Korean production company called Ani21 to create a 90-minute animatic for a feature film called "Twin Princes." The completion date is March 31. Ani 21 wants to enhance the first 10 minutes of the movie for marketing purposes. The following job listing is for a company that is not signed to the Animation Guild contract. We have confirmed that they will not hire employees to work "on spec" or for free.
The Animation Guild neither encourages nor discourages members from taking non-Guild work. Because this is not a "Guild shop," you will not receive Guild health, pension, 401(k) or other benefits, nor can the employer "split payroll" and pay Guild benefits to some employees and not others. The Guild is very limited in the degree to which we can help you with non-Guild employer disputes, but we can advise you as to your rights under state and Federal labor laws.
Contact Steve Hulett or Jeff Massie at (818) 766-7151 or mpsc839@mindspring.com if you have any questions.
My name is John Hollis. I am looking for freelance designers for an ongoing toy project of mine.
The project consists of a current line of "Regener8er" toy cars that transform into eight different vehicles. It is a collectable line, so we need three or four new designs every three months or so.
I am looking for designers who can work easily in some 3D modeling program like Rhino. So that all of the eight different configurations can be worked out easily during design phase. They should have a good design "Car" sense. And preferably have experience designing toys, so that they understand the ins and outs of things like plastic materials, deco. restrictions, molding undercuts, small parts safety, etc.
As you requested, this is on a freelance basis (not spec) and would indeed be paid upon completion.
Best Regards
John Hollis
