Electronic Arts seeking art director

The following job listing is for an employer that is not signed to the Animation Guild contract. This work is not under the Guild's contractual jurisdiction.

The Animation Guild neither encourages nor discourages members from taking non-Guild work. Because this is not a "Guild shop," you will not receive Guild health, pension, 401(k) or other benefits, nor can the employer "split payroll" and pay Guild benefits to some employees and not others. The Guild is very limited in the degree to which we can help you with non-Guild employer disputes, but we can advise you as to your rights under state and Federal labor laws.

The IATSE and the Animation Guild are currently waging an organizing campaign to bring the benefits of a union contract to employees at Electronic Arts and other games development companies. If you accept this or any other job at EA or any other game developer, we encourage you to sign a representation card. Further details at http://www.mpsc839.org/letthegamesbegin.

Contact Steve Hulett or Jeff Massie at (818) 766-7151 or mpsc839@mindspring.com if you have any questions.

Contact Steve Hulett or Jeff Massie at (818) 766-7151 or mpsc839@mindspring.com if you have any questions.

=======

Thank you for your conversation with me yesterday regarding our search for an appropriate freelance fine-line artist to provide fine-line art renderings for the upcoming publication of the first of three novels.

My requirements to hire an appropriate freelance artist are as follows:

THE COMPANY:

We develop screenplays toward motion picture production and we are currently establishing a new publishing company for the promotion of novels based upon screenplays that have been written in-house that will go into major film production. We will be packaging and marketing the first novel in an entirely unique way worldwide.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The first novel of three planned novels based upon a finished screenplay story trilogy is being prepared for publication and promotion. Original fine-line pencil renderings were created some time ago for the first screenplay of the trilogy. These very realistic renderings will be used as an example for the artist that is hired to follow to create (38) new renderings (a chosen scene with characters) for each of the chapter title pages of the novel. Additionally, larger full-color renderings will be needed for full-color plate insertions (12-14) throughout the novel. Also, the design and rendering of the cover jacket for the hardback and paperback edition will be necessary.

TYPE OF JOB:

This is a significant freelance opportunity. The artist will work closely with the Author/Producer's very experienced visual understanding of the characters and scenes throughout the story to create the realistic depictions required. The original renderings were created by a very successfully collaboration in this way. This first novel is the basis from which the first screenplay of the trilogy story has been re-written for film production. This opportunity, for the right person, could significantly advance their career goal as a professional artist for both book publishing art and storyboard work in the film business. They are intimately tied together these days. As our publishing and film endeavors progress, so can the career of the artists that work with us. In the days to come, the opportunity will exist for this artist to advance their career if they should choose to be employed full-time with our company. We are not looking to take anyone away from their chosen avenue of employment if they already work in the film industry; but we are looking for an artist who will be genuinely inspired to work on this project as a freelance artist once they understand its depth and significance to both the book publishing world and the film industry.

COMPENSATION:

The artist will be paid (by mutual agreement) on a per rendering basis that will include a preliminary sketch of characters in a scene, any corrections to the rendering and a final acceptable rendering for the book.

HOURS REQUIRED:

Since this is freelance work, the artist should be enthusiastically driven to create the best possible renderings in an inspired collaboration with the author/producer of the novel and screenplays. The artist should also be proficient and expedient at producing the necessary renderings for the chapter title pages and the cover design for jacket cover.

METHOD OF CONTACT:

(818) 993-8947 (Landline)

(949) 233-9766 (Cell)

Initial contact by phone with the author/producer Scott Lemriel is requested. After that, an agreed upon meeting can be arranged with the day, time and place and/or you can send examples of your work to Scott at the address he will provide.

Comic book style artist/caricaturist needed for live-action series

Can you please assist me in locating someone from your membership who can draw in the tradition of DC or Marvel superhero comics?

I am the Production Designer on the NBC show LAS VEGAS and we have a series of scenes in an upcoming show that end in stills that dissolve from an actual film frame to a superhero version of that actor. The post-production schedule, I'm told, is shorter than usual so the chosen artist would have to turn the stills around within a modicum of time and naturally, they have to look like the actor and fit within the genre.

I would greatly appreciate your help. Please call me at 310 202 4420.

IMPORTANT: Please do *NOT* respond by e-mail.

Thank you.

Golden Era Productions is the film production company for the Church of Scientology. We produce all the films which are used in the Church's drug rehabilitation and drug education campaigns, literacy programs, the human rights campaigns and other similar activities.

We are starting a project to produce a film based entirely on one of the books by the founder - L. Ron Hubbard. It is a non-fiction book entitled "The Fundamentals of Thought" which lays out the fundamentals and underlying basic principles of life and livingness. Much of it is described in terms of basic concepts.

The film will utilize live action as well as a great deal of graphic animation to illustrate these concepts to the viewer.

It is thematic rather than plot driven.

The narration is already written as it is the text of the book and what it now needs is the visualization.

We are looking for a production designer and conceptual & storyboard artists with experience in working with animation/SFX who can work on such a project for several weeks and is capable of coming up with the visual treatment, concepts, look or style of animation with new fresh and hip ideas and concepts to communicate the ideas in the book and who can offer significant creative contribution to the project working in partnership with the Director and Scriptwriter.

Those interested and who qualify please reply by E-Mail to maryw@goldeneraproductions.org and include a resume and samples of work for review.

Best regards,

Mary Williams
